Learn more about Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home

Duane D Moore is the current owner/president of Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home Inc. after being hand selected by the Sanderson family to carry on over 175 years of quality service to the community.

Votie P Moore is the current office manager at Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home Inc. and the manager of Moore Monuments providing the community with a friendly face for all their needs.

In 1827 James Sanderson came to the area from New Jersey and eventually settled here with his family in May of 1829.  These were the days when the dead were laid in wood coffins made to order at the Cabinet Shop.

The service moved and expanded in 1875 under the name of Sanderson & Bros. Furniture and Undertaking, which was burned out when a sweeping fire struck part of the downtown area of Seneca Falls.  In 1891, the funeral home was constructed at 32 State Street.  Additions modernized the structure in 1897, 1958 and 1985.

The Sanderson’s are a part of the history of Seneca Falls, providing an essential service for the community.  The funeral home was renamed in October 2001 when its current president Duane Moore was hand selected by the Sanderson’s to continue their long tradition of excellence. Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home Inc. became the oldest incorporated business in Seneca County.

With their dedicated staff Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home Inc. has been serving the Seneca, Ontario and Wayne counties for six generations.  For many families, at one of the most important moments in their lives, Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home Inc. has become a tradition and an expression of trust.

In 1965, Duane D Moore graduated from Cato-Meridian Central School. After graduating from Simmons School of Embalming in Syracuse, Duane enlisted in the United States Air force serving four years during the Vietnam Conflict.  During this time he served at various bases in South East Asia as a Crew Chief on a KC 135 aerial refueling squadron.

Duane has been involved in funeral services throughout his life, except for twelve years as Director of Sales and Marketing for Wilbert Brand Burial Vaults in the central New York area.

After being acquainted with Sanderson Services Inc. for several years, the Sanderson family hand selected Duane to purchase the funeral business and to carry on a 175 year tradition of quality service and dedication.
