Obituary - Kevin Conley

Kevin Conley

Kevin “Pooh Bear” Conley, passed away on February 19, 2024, at Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.  There will be no services, and the burial will be at the Fayette Rural Cemetery at the convenience of his family as he wished.

Kevin was born March 15, 1955, in Seneca Falls to the late Frederick and Beverly Conley, Sr.   Along with his siblings, they lived on the lake where his love of boating began.  Later, they relocated to Fayette, where Kevin graduated from Romulus Central School in the class of 1973.

During school, he worked at LeMac campsite and later at the College Inn where he met his wife, Marianne.  They were married in October of 1974 and lived in Seneca Falls.  Shortly thereafter, Kevin was hired as a machinist at Goulds Pumps and continued to work there for 40 years, in both the Bayard Street and Auburn locations.

Kevin spent many summers on the lake with his boating friends and family.  Together with his boating crew, they spent many weekends anchored at “the Cove”,  taking car trips in their convertibles and traveling, both domestically and abroad.

His love of the water led him to purchase some lake property and remodel the Bridgeport Firehouse on Lower Lake Road.  Like his father, Kevin was a skilled carpenter.  He also built his grandchildren a life-size playhouse that they will cherish forever.  Kevin also enjoyed hunting, and he was a lifelong member of the Canoga Springs Rod and Gun Club.

By far, Kevin’s most cherished possessions were his grandchildren, whom he adored.  “Papa” had a soft spot for his grandkids.  One of his fondest memories was taking them on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Disney in 2019, where they got to meet his namesake, Winnie the Pooh.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Marianne, his daughter Tenneille (Eric) Brewer, and his three grandchildren Paige (13), Isabelle (12), and Gavin (10).  He is also survived by his sister Lisa (Jeffery) Kelsey, and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Frederick Jr and Darryl Conley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, the Romulus Foundation for Educational Opportunities, or the Fetch A Friend Dog Rescue.  Kevin will be deeply missed.
